The Social Research Laboratory is a structural subdivision of the Computer Science and Statistics Department, which supports ASUE scientific-educational process.

The laboratory combines those, who have common research interests, creative thinking, ready to gain and share their experience. The laboratory is a free creative and research environment, where the academic staff, independent researchers, researchers, post-graduate students and students can collaborate on applied and theoretically-oriented projects. The laboratory, creating an appropriate environment for the implementation of joint projects, is called to form a culture of collaboration with sharing experiences and making creative initiatives.

The laboratory is aimed to promote socio-economic qualified research and scientific projects, to support the implementation of their results in the curriculum, to improve research capacity, to engage young professionals in the research community and to form a culture of collaboration.

So the functions of the Social Research Laboratory are:

  • development and implementation of research and scientific projects with socio-economic relevance and theoretical significance,
  • genetics and exchange of research skills and experience,
  • formation of training and mentoring culture,
  • implementation of innovative methods and theories in ASUE training practice by developing and testing relevant modules and methodological recommendations,
  • creation and publicity of informational and statistical datas.

It is important for us to support the expansion of research capabilities of young professionals, master students, to acquire the necessary research experience, thus contributing to the relative advantages of our university graduates in the labor market.

The main directions of the laboratory's research are:

  • Developments in the social sphere
  • Poverty and inequality issues
  • Consumer behavior and consumer markets analysis
  • Labor market and employment issues
  • Migration and economic implications
  • International trade
  • Human capital
  • Socio-economic situation and policy analysis
  • Regions socio-economic development problems.
  • The following issues are currently in progress:
  • Methodological modules development and testing
  • Policy documents study and discussion;
  • Preparation of research project on the evaluation of economic growth and inequality impact on poverty
  • Inflation’s social impact assessment research project implementation.

As a result of cooperation with the Chair of Mathematical Methods in Economics of the ASUE Computer Science and Statistics Department, graduation themes were selected and approved by the laboratory research directions, and the relevant students were given the opportunity to spend their educational and professional experience in the laboratory.

Laboratory work results are summarized in the form of printed and electronic publications on the Laboratory website. The intermediate and final results of the projects are summarized in research workshops. Round-table discussions are planned on separate topics. The laboratory develops appropriate modules and methodological guidelines and after appropriate testing of research capacity development, innovative methods and research results, supports their introduction in the university teaching practice.

The laboratory is ready to collaborate with individuals and organizations that highlight the quality and relevance of the research. ASUE scientific-educational laboratories are our important partners. According to the main research directions the scope of partners will include the beneficiary state and private institutions, research institutes in Armenia and abroad, research laboratories, policy making and implementing structures, training centers, and more.
