Education
1976 - Graduated from Yerevan Secondary School No. 118 with a gold medal.
1976-1980 - Graduated from the Yerevan Institute of National Economy, with the qualification of economist.

Military service
1980-1982 - Served in the Soviet Army.

Work Experience
1982-1992 - Carried out scientific and pedagogical activities at the Yerevan Institute of National Economy.
1982-1990 – Worked in “HrazdanMash” Enterprise as an economist, Head of Economic Research Laboratory.
1990-1992 - “Mars” Factory, Deputy General Director
1990-1995 – Deputy of Yerevan City Council
December, 1992 – Was elected as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Deputies, Yerevan City Council (Mayor of Yerevan) and worked until 1996 February, as the term set by the RA Constitution.
1996-1998 - Adviser to the President of the Republic of Armenia.
1995-1999 - National Assembly Deputy, member of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy and Finance.
2002 - present - Vice President of the Center for Political Science, Law, and Economic Research.
2019- 2021 - Member of the Board of the ARMECONOMBANK.
2020 – Was awarded the title of PhD in Economics.
August 4, 2021 - present - Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia.
February 4, 2021 – Was elected the Chairman of ASUE Board, and on January 10, 2022 was re-elected by the new composition of the Board of the Armenian State University of Economics, approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
March 3, 2022- At the session of RA National Assembly was elected President of the Republic of Armenia.

He has authored scientific and professional books, articles, as well as translations and publications of liberal economic and political books.

Marital Status
Married, with two children, two grandsons.
