Cooperation with ISTC
Regional Analysis and Decision-Making Optimization through Technology Based Strategy in Vayots Dzor Region
The research project was implemented by team of the Yeghegnadzor Branch of the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE). Project Coordinator was Sos Khachikyan, and team members were Arpine Hovakimyan, Manuk Movsisyan, Armen Ktoyan, as well as Arthur Dolmajian (AUA) and Nathaniel Ferraro (Peace Corps).
Project aimed to drive regional decision making (target region was Vayots Dzor) with technological solutions through development of computer-human interaction and knowledge-rich intervention. The objectives of the project were regional economic modeling and spatial development strategy development based on inter-municipal cooperation, as well as knowledge creation and transfer.
In the result of project implementation “Technology Based Decision Making” pilot course for higher education was developed and two international papers were published: “A Spatial Analyses of Tourists Destinations in Vayots Dzor Region of Armenia” and “Peace Building through Establishment of Virtual Communities in the South Caucasus”. The other results of the project were carried out strategic development document for Vayots Dzor region, established cooperation with the University of Massachusetts (USA) and John Hopkins University (USA), as well as partnership with ISTC team and access to IBM resources.
