The Chair of Microeconomics and Business Organization of the Armenian State University of Economics was established in 1975. Since the establishment of Yerevan Institute of National Economy, it was named ‘Organization and Planning of Industrial Production’. From April, 2021, the chair has been renamed to the Chair of Microeconomics.

Compulsory courses in all bachelor’s degree specialties are:

  • Enterprise economics

Master's degree:

More than two dozen subjects are taught in the specialization "Service", namely:

  • Foundations of entrepreneurship-1,2
  • Conflict resolution
  • Investment policy
  • Legal regulation of service activities
  • Economics of transport and communication

10 subjects are taught in the master's degree program in "Business organization and management of public services", namely:

  • Tariff policy
  • Organization of tax and customs relations
  • Strategic management in business.

Scientific research activities

Recently, the academic staff of the chair has published educational manuals in Armenian and Russian, as well as implemented scientific seminars on current issues related to the economy of the republic.

Head of the Chair, Professor M. Melkumyan (with Associate Professors F. Baharyan and N. Afyan) developed and submitted to the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly a model law "Assessment of the potential impact of mining activities on the health of the population of affected communities" for its approval and was adopted in 2023 being unprecedented in the frames of RA law-making activities. In the competitions announced by the "Amberd" Research Center, employees of the chair regularly win grants on diverse topics.
