Armenia in the Context of Regional Development: Economy and Policy
As a natural gate linking Europe and Asia South Caucasus has always been in the center of attention of the powerful countries. It is a geographical area where the interests of both the mighty states and the countries falling within this area are allocated. Besides it is a frontier zone of religious and cultural rivalries.
The present research has examined the interests of the key players of the region, revealed the conflicts of those interests. An attempt has been made to propose some solutions to existing conflicts. In this context, an importance has been attached to the issues regarding Armenia, especially Nagorno-Karabakh, establishing mutually beneficial diplomatic relations with Turkey, developing relations with Georgia and Iran. An analysis has been carried out towards discovering and minimizing direct and indirect threats to the national security of Armenia. A great attention has been paid to the current state and evaluation of the relations of Armenia with its strategic partner Russia. Moreover, military and political relations with Russia, the degree of importance of economic relations was also discussed in this work, especially paying attention to energetic security and collaboration in this field.
As a result of the present research some conclusions and propositions have been presented.
