History and Activities

The Department of Macroeconomics at the Armenian State University of Economics was established in 1994, evolving from the Department of National Economy Planning at the Yerevan Institute of National Economy (YINE). Its primary mission is to provide a scientific and educational foundation for regulating the post-Soviet transitional economy and shaping the economic relations of the newly independent Republic of Armenia at the macro level. The department focuses on education, research, and scientific inquiry in areas such as economic policy, the structural features of the economy, Armenia's opportunities and challenges in the global economic system, and other related topics.

Research Activities The department's research initiatives include “The Directions and Features of Economic Policy in Various Sectors of the Republic of Armenia” and “The Impact of Digital Transformations on RA Macroeconomic Policy,” both launched in 2023. These areas of study are explored through final projects, master's theses, and scholarly publications. The department faculty produces around 20 academic and research papers each year.
