Deputy Director of AMBERD Participates in Research Symposium of the University of Pennsylvania

On August 7, 2020, Dr. Vardan Atoyan - Deputy Director-Senior Expert of AMBERD Research Center, was invited to participate in an online research symposium organized by the University of Pennsylvania Think Tanks and Civil Society Program (USA). Vardan Atoyan told asue.am, that the research symposium was dedicated to modern trends in the field of think tanks, their development peculiarities in different countries.

"The outcomes of the study of a Master's degree research group led by Dr. James McGann, Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, were presented during the event. Quantitative changes in think tanks around the world in recent decades, the factors influencing them, their role in public policy, the need to use new tools in the digital age, the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the field, and the future of think tanks were touched upon. A separate reference was made to transnational crime and the modern tools used in the fight against it. I would like to mention that the format of the event was quite effective, and the chosen topic was very relevant, as evidenced by the activity of the participants, the discussions on the issues raised and the research symposium was attended by more than 100 representatives and experts from the leading think tanks of many countries around the world. As a participant in the research symposium, I also raised certain issues related to the topic, including those related to Armenia, and provided some suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of further research"; Vardan Atoyan noted.
