On October 23-24, the "Nairi Spa Resorts" in Hankavan hosted a hackathon dedicated to the sustainable management of water resources, organized by the European Union, USAID, and Armenia's Ministry of Environment.

The "Armenia Water Resources Data Hackathon" brought together 34 young people aged 18-35 to develop digital solution ideas for sustainable water management. Among them were 17 students from ASUE, doing their BA and MA in "Environmental Science and Nature Management" and "Economics of Nature Management." The ASUE students were accompanied by Narine Khalatyan, Head of the Department of Economics of Nature Management, and lecturers Hripsime Melyan and Anna Margaryan.

We are pleased to announce that our students performed brilliantly, securing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places along with their teammates, earning cash prizes and certificates.

"Our students were represented in all groups and were able to excel, showcasing their knowledge of water resource management while gaining new skills. They developed digital solutions, presented remarkable proposals, and innovative ideas through teamwork, which filled us, their instructors, with pride and excitement," said Narine Khalatyan in an interview with asue.am.

Over the two days, participants had the opportunity to work with experts from USAID's "Improved Water Resource Management in Armenia" program, the International Office for Water in France, and Armenia’s Ministry of Environment, gaining not only sector-specific knowledge but also skills in data analysis, processing, and application.
