Discussion on "Challenges of Realizing the Investment Potential of the Diaspora" at ASUE
On December 22, ASUE hosted Karen Zakaryan, the Executive Director of "FINARM" Financial Market Members Association. He presented to the academic community of the University the main provisions of the concept of issuing bonds from possible tools for realizing the potential of the Diaspora.
The concept has been discussed in the Government of the Republic of Armenia, there is a decision of the Government to conduct a study of the demand for Diaspora bonds, so it is important that the academic community will be involved in the detailed discussion of this initiative.
Welcoming the guest, ASUE Vice Rector for Science Tatul Mkrtchyan mentioned that the main goal of the project was to involve the financial potential of the Diaspora in the financing of pan-Armenian projects in Armenia not through donations, but through mutual benefit by issuing bonds for the Diaspora. The initiative team is quite representative, and state and non-state structures have already joined, which, according to Tatul Mkrtchyan, emphasizes the importance and necessity of the project for the public.
Expressing gratitude for the interest shown, Karen Zakaryan stressed the need to discuss such issues of public importance in a wide circle and professional unity.
"The experience of developed countries proves that Universities and academic centers play a serious role in the development of economic and not only economic policies of countries, and now, we become the continuation of such a good tradition by this discussion"; Karen Zakaryan noted, adding that he submited the initiative to the academic and administrative staff members, expecting a constructive discussion in the form of remarks and suggestions, from which the project will only benefit.
