Lieutenant Ashot Matevosyan (born in 1978), having received news of the beginning of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan war, volunteered for the front. He was a graduate of the Yerevan Institute of National Economy, studied in 1994-1999.

His niece Shushan Navasardyan told ASUE Media and Public relations Division  about Ashot. He was from Shamshadin, and the Tavush region played a huge role in his life. He knew the history of the Armenian people perfectly and was a great patriot of his country. During the war, Ashot was in the hottest spots, fought and saved many human lives. Even after receiving shrapnel wounds, he continued to fight. On the evening on October 28, while saving the lives of his friends, he died like a hero in a place called Karmir Shuka.

Shushan Navasardyan dedicated a poem to the hero, which is available in the full text of the article in Armenian.
