"I consider my input in the field of science still open": Firuza Mayilyan
Since 2017 onwards, the work routine of the Doctor of Economics, Professor Firuza Mayilyan starts and finishes at the Chair of Theory of Economics. This is the venue where the professional career path of a young graduate student (diploma with excellence) of Yerevan Institute of National Economy (YINE) has started about 25 years ago. In 1997, Firuza Mayilyan still was unaware of the fact that her future would be related to the teaching work, but this was her predetermined future.
"I have been concurrently working in the banking system and our university, but I realized that scientific and pedagogical activities are closer to my soul, and the best place to self-realize as a scientist-pedagogue is the University of Economics. This is my university, that has become my second home," Firuza Mayilyan points out.
During all these past years, the scientist-pedagogue has continuously developed her professional qualities and has engaged in self-education, meanwhile keeping the issues of human capital theory, economic growth, development, labor market issues as the focal point of her scientific interests: "I consider my input in the field of science still open, I would like to continue with great enthusiasm, as science is not a duty, not an obligation, but a mode of living, and I am extremely satisfied when I find time for new theories, new directions to study, as well as when acquiring new knowledge. If the professor does not find time for science, does not advance as a professional, then she will regress as a specialist which I consider unacceptable."
"I am keen on my work, I am internally satisfied when my students are totally engaged in the auditorium, when I see that I manage to transfer knowledge and instill an economic mindset in them. I often tell them to study well, to accumulate and generate knowledge, and the primary goal of the lecturer is to convey knowledge to students, to see their professional advancement and growth," the professor underlines.
Firuza Mayilyan professionally distinguishes and combines all her assigned roles, and always feels her family’s support. "This all empowers me, the fact that I manage to combine it all. In my case, family and work go along with each other, and it completely corresponds to my ideas about life-work balance inherent to a modern woman."
