When a Russian-Language Olympiad Leads to a Summer School

Anna Smbatyan is a second-year student in the "Management" program at the department of Management of the Armenian State University of Economics. In May 2024, she participated in a Russian language Olympiad hosted by the Russian House in Armenia at Yerevan State University. ASUE Associate Professor Marina Abrahamyan, who is Anna’s Russian language lecturer, told her about the Olympiad and helped her to prepare for it.

Having been placed among the top five students in an essay competition dedicated to Alexander Pushkin, Anna had the opportunity to participate in the "Summer University 2024" fourth international educational project. She attended the summer school at Ural State University in Russia between 8-22 July.

Anna’s team earned 88 out of 100 points for the "Business 5.0: New Decisions and Leaders of the Digital Era" program in economics and received a certificate. The team presented a project on digital transformations in business, which was applicable to the banking sector.

Anna continues to participate in all educational and cultural activities of the "Summer University" project, including workshops, masterclasses, cultural hospitality events and trips. She is happy to share Armenian culture, songs, dances, Komitas' music, and national dishes with others.
