DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF GYUMRI WAS PRESENTED IN ASUE “AMBERD” RESEARCH CENTER
Today, representatives of Asian Development Bank, “Shirak patriotic union” NGO, Shirak Regional Administration, Municipality of Gyumri and Ministry of Territorial Administration in the RA were hosted at ASUE “AMBERD” Research Center.
The topic for discussion was one of the credit programs carried out by Asian Development Bank in 4 towns of the RA: that’s development program of Gyumri. The meeting was attended by the collaborators of “AMBERD” Research Center headed by Director, Doctor of Economics, Professor Samvel Avetisyan.
Assistant to the Chairman of “Shirak patriotic union” NGO Gayane Eghiazaryan mentioned that the joint meeting with NGO, Asian Development Bank and Ministry of Territorial Administration in the RA aimed to get acquainted with the proposals of Asian Development Bank towards development of Gyumri and to discuss them with participation of “AMBERD” Research Center.
Gayane Eghiazaryan mentioned that a group was formed to coordinate those activities, the Head of which is Director of “AMBERD” Research Center, Professor Samvel Avetisyan.
At the beginning of the meeting Samvel Avetisyan introduced the guests, then mentioned that the meeting aimed to find structural proposals for carrying out development program of Gyumri. The Director of the Center outlined that the proposals should be accepted by Shirak Regional Administration, Municipality of Gyumri.
“We highlight the program which will provide employment. We have decided to conduct an open discussion today, in the result of which, I think, we shall get specific recommendations”; mentioned the Professor.
Representatives of Asian Development Bank reported on strategic plans they have distinguished, after which an interesting dialogue was held.
ADB’s representatives explained that the program is still in the development stage and such discussions are important for adjusting priorities. They think that complex development project of inter town transport will be carried out, which will have a strategic impact on business environment and enhance the well-being of the population.
