WORLD QUALITY DAY WAS CELEBRATED AT ASUE: A MEETING WITH EMPLOYERS (photos)
Today, world quality day was celebrated at Armenian State University of Economics: a meeting was held with local producers, employers at ASUE.
The slogan of the measure was “Quality knowledge is the key to success”, which was attended by ASUE Rector, Professor Koryun Atoyan, Vice-rector on Methodological Matters, Paruir Kalantaryan, Vice-rector on Educational Matters, Mihrdat Harutyunyan, Vice-rector on Administrative Affairs, Mikhail Karapetyan, acting Head of the Chair of Commodity Research and Technology, Professor, Silva Sahradyan, representatives of Faculty, a dozen of employers of various companies in Armenia.
The measure was divided into 2 parts: the first one was devoted to world quality day, the 2nd one was a discussion with employers on the topic entitled “The employers’ observations and recommendations towards BA and MA students’ knowledge of “Commodity research and commodity quality expertise” specialty”.
Koryun Atoyan congratulated the participants and as a Head of an educational institute spoke about the quality of education. “I think the quality of life begins from the quality of education. Assuring quality of education isn’t an easy task, providing high-quality education is a long-term process, it is not a product, which can be produced in an hour or in a day.
If we consider school years, then the person should contribute about 18 years, to get a quality education”; stressed the Head of the University and added it’s already several years that Armenian State University of Economics cooperates with employers to improve the quality of education.
After the Rector’s speech Silva Sahradyan reported on “Quality knowledge is the key to success” and refereed to the world quality day and the role of commodity researchers in assuring quality.
Other reports were also presented.
Director of the “National Bureau of Expertise” state non-profit organization of the RA National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Artashes Javadyan, Ph.D referred to current problems of area of expertise in the RA, presented activities of their structure, which is mainly carried out in legal and criminological, as well as civil legal sectors. The speaker informs that their Bureau carries out 10.000 expertises annually, then referred to the quality criteria used in this context.
Director of “Research Center for the Problem of the Non Proliferation of weapons of Mass Destruction” NGO, Karen Gasparyan referred to economic security and in this context the role of commodity researchers.
“The concept of quality is broad and covers a wide range”; said Deputy Director of National Institute of Standards, Candidate in Economics, Gevorg Nazaryan, and presented infrastructures of quality assurance, quality control system, spoke about national standards, quality-standard combination, outlining “Standards are the soul of quality”.
During the 2nd part of the meeting reports were presented by:
- Silva Sahradyan - “The employers’ observations and recommendations towards BA and MA students’ knowledge of “Commodity research and commodity quality expertise” specialty”,
- President of RUEA, Gagik Makaryan- “The role and activity of commodity researcher-expert in various companies of the RA,
- President of “Dried food producers” association, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Sandro Abovyan-“The role and activity of commodity researchers-expert in industrial enterprises”,
- Deputy Director of “National institute of health” expertise center named after S. Avdalbekyan, Candidate in Chemistry, Voskehat Voskanyan- “The role and activity of commodity researcher-expert in accredited laboratories and various bodies”.
President of RUEA, Gagik Makaryan, mentioned that commodity researcher-experts carry out a number of important functions, their role is great. He spoke about the compliance of the specialists prepared by the University and the employer’s requirements, as well as about mismatches. The importance of language skills: English, Russian (after the native language) was raised.
Discussion was held during the meeting, cooperation proposals were made by the representatives of employers.
ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan summarized the meeting, expressed gratitude for participation and interesting reports, discussion, and assured; “We are also interested in cooperation, as it is very essential for us to prepare such specialists, who meet the requirements of employers”.
