September 21 is  celebrated as the   Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia. Declaration  of  Independence  of  Armenian  was  adopted  on August 23, 1990  at  the  session of  the Supreme Council of Armenia.

After  adopting  the  Declaration it  was  decided by  the  Decree  of  the  Supreme  Council  of  Armenia  to  spend a referendum  on September 21, 1991.

After   adopting  Independence,  Armenia entered a new period of history. Today  it is 22 years  old  young  state,  which  has  its symbols:  flag, emblem and anthem.
