THE 6TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF ARMENIAN NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STUDENTS STARTED ITS WORKS AT ASUE TODAY
The 6th general assembly of Armenian National Association of Student started its works at ASUE Big Hall today, which was attended by the Students' self-management bodies of 12 Universities and the delegation of “Armenia's non-state Universities Student Center” NGO.
The President of Armenian National Association of Student’s Committee on International Relations, the President of the 6th general assembly Sargis Asatryants thanked ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan for hospitality, help and support of students’ initiatives.
Welcoming the delegation of the 6th general assembly ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan mentioned that the works of ASUE Students' self-management body based on high democratic values. The University’s Student Council is independent representative body, which is open for all students. The Rector assured that he would continue to encourage active, conscious and mature students, then added that he always acted as a defender of the students’ interests. “We are of those Universities, which follow and support the works of this Structure. We want to see students who won’t be only observer in educational processes, but will be the bearer and major beneficiary”, said Koryun Atoyan.
The Rector of Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan directed his speech to the students’ delegation. He hoped that serious problems related to the vital interests of students would be discussed and solutions would be offered during the assembly.
YSU Rector observed that the first of the problems was the unification of the students and the second was Membership to European Student Association. Aram Simonyan wished the students unification around Armenian National Association of Student.
The Rector of Armenian State Engineering University Ara Avetisyan, highlighting the role of students in building the future, wished the students to treat kindly towards their chosen profession, to be active and to build civil society all of us dream.
The Director of National Center for Quality Assurance Ruben Topchyan welcomed and wished fruitful work to students’ delegates. The latter mantioned that the role of student was great in the process of quality assurance in educational high institutes and good result could be reached only due to joint work.
The President of Armenian National Association of Student Armen Aleksanyan welcomed the participants of the 6th general assembly and informed that their organization had implemented international projects during the last years, preparing to join European Union of Students.
The President of ASUE Student Council, the Vice-President of Armenian National Association of Student Sevak Khachatryan thanked ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan for supporting the students’ initiative, Armenian National Association of Student. Wishing good luck to the works of the assembly, he hoped that Armenian National Association of Student would be able to raise the voice of all students.
Then the 6th general assembly of Armenian National Association of Student passed to discussing the issues of the agenda.
The assembly will continue its works tomorrow on November 21.
