The Chairs’ Scientific-research Activities: Seminar on Mass Destruction Weapons

Today, Venera Voskanyan, Associate Professor  of the Chair of Physical Training,  Emergency   Situations and Civil   Defense, PhD in Chemistry, spoke on  “Mass Destruction Weapons, Application Peculiaritiesand Organization of Protection of the Population” within the frames of the  chair scientific-research seminars. Khoren Mkhitaryan, Head of Science and PhD Division, lecturers of the  above-mentioned Chair, students attended  the seminar.

Referring to  the nuclear weapon, the speaker mentioned the the US  had used  it in 1945 /for the  first  time/ on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and everybody  is  aware  of its destructive effects.

She spoke about nuclear weapon radioactivity, caused effects - radioactive contamination, impact wave, light effects, and so on.

The second part of the report covered issues related to the protection of the population: how to shelter people, what is the significance of shelters, what kind of shelters are protecting from the deadly beam of nuclear weapons, how to show first aid?

After  the  report the  attendees  asked  questions, Siranush Harutyunyan, Associate Professor,  PhD in Chemistry, made observations.
