ASUE and UN Population Fund Signed a Memorandum: Research-educational Cooperation is Ahead

ASUE expands the number of partners on its way of modernization and development programs, seeking effective scientific-research and educational cooperation. Today, our University and UNFPA in Armenia signed a memorandum of cooperation. Rector Diana Galoyan hosted the Head of the Office Tsovinar Harutyunyan and the Head of the "Population and Development" program Anna Hovhannisyan. The meeting was attended by Director of ASUE AMBERD research center Davit Hakhverdyan, senior researcher of the center Albert Hayrapetyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Macroeconomics Ruben Ghantarchyan.

The UN representatives introduced briefly their activities, emphasizing the work being done in the following three areas: reproductive health and rights, population and development strategies, gender equality. They mentioned that research is needed in the post-war period and expressed a desire to carry out a large-scale research on demographic issues jointly with ASUE, the outcome of which is planned to be presented to the RA Government.

Diana Galoyan said that she was concerned about the country's demographic problems, and approved the proposal for joint research. She mentioned that the University, in the face of AMBERD research center, has a great research resource, a young and competitive team, and the research outcomes are also used in educational processes. Outlining the forthcoming activities, the Rector noted that the outcome of the research should be tangible by the end of the year.

The MOU is signed by Diana Galoyan and Tsovinar Harutyunyan.

Possibilities for joint development and implementation of curricula related to demographic issues were also discussed. The parties expressed readiness and hope for effective cooperation.
