Bridging the Youth of Armenia and Artsakh: "Patriotic Student" Forum

On May 3-5, “Patriotic Student” forum was held in Artsakh within the frames of events of ASUE SC 25th anniversary attended by representatives of 18 self-governing institutions of state and non-state HEIs of the RA and Artsakh. The organizer is the Student Council of our University.

Deacon Samvel Mkrtchyan, Head of the center of ACYOWorld and Hovhannes Harutyunyan, President of ASUE SC, welcomed the start of the event. On the first day, Pargev Srbazan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, was hosted by the forum participants and discussed with the youth issues of patriotism.

On the next day, Tigran Abrahamyan, adviser to the Artsakh Republic President, spoke on "What was the situation on the frontline three years ago, when and how the April military operations started, three years after the war?".

Sargis Asatryants, Vice President of the Armenian National Student Association, spoke on “Student Self-Government in Armenia”. "The student was considered to be a consumer, a source of income for some time ago, and now students are the main stakeholders. Having an active participation, students implement self-government within the university”; Vice President stated.

Bako Sahakyan, the Artsakh Republic President, hosted the leaders of the self-governing institutions within the framework of the forum. A range of issues on the Artsakh state-building, security and army-building, foreign policy, social and economic development were touched upon in a warm and informal atmosphere.  President Sahakyan stressed the importance of such initiatives in Artsakh voicing his hope that they would be recurrent in nature.

"Patriotic Student" Forum was summed up by awarding participation certificates.

Hovhannes Harutyunyan stated, that the participants of the forum have left with great impressions, the main goal of the event was to strengthen the Armenia-Artsakh unity.

"Thus, among the jubilee events, we start an initiative around which we unite around 18 student structures of the Armenian and Artsakh higher educational institutions and through joint efforts within this events we will visit Artsakh regularly. This program has one goal: to strengthen the youth relations between the two Republics. By the way, tonight we will host students from different universities to discuss ways to implement the project. The upcoming visit is scheduled for the end of this week”; SC President stated.
