Today is the International Mother Language Day
For over two decades, the International Mother Language Day has been celebrated in Armenia as an occasion to re-evaluate our precious wealth, to pay our love and admiration to our native language, its sounds, singing tones, rich vocabulary, exceptional flexibility and brilliant alphabet, our thinking for forming and propagating the Armenian language, learning to speak and recognizing new languages.
P.S. UNESCO adopted it on November, 1991. At the bases of the holiday is the students fighting for their native language - Bengali, in Dacca in 1952, which was accompanied by clashes and victims, but it ended victorious, and moreover, was the beginning of the awakening of national self-consciousness for the people of East Pakistan.
