On November 23, Diana Galoyan, the Rector of the Armenian State University of Economics and Armen Hovhannisyan, the Director of "Grant Thornton" CJSC, signed MOU aimed at developing and increasing education efficiency in the Republic of Armenia.

Welcoming the cooperation with "Grant Thornton", ASUE Rector Diana Galoyan expressed conviction that more effective platforms for collaboration are expanding by signing this memorandum.

"In recent years, the University of Economics has initiated significant reforms aimed at improving the quality of education. ASUE is the only economic University in the whole Republic and bears a big part of the responsibility of preparing qualified specialists in the economic sphere. Relationships with employers are one of our main guidelines, in this regard, we highlight the cooperation with Grant Thornton. ASUE has a monopoly position on many specialties, including accounting and auditing, and our cooperation can have a positive impact both for your company and our students, who will have the opportunity to cooperate with one of the leading companies in the field”; ASUE Rector noted, emphasizing that ASUE is an open and flexible University in terms of improving educational programs and applying them at the business level, ready to meet and implement all the initiatives which will involve students in the labor market.

Expressing gratitude to ASUE Rector for cooperation, Armen Hovhannisyan mentioned that the company has a staffing problem at the moment. "Today we cooperate with four Armenian Universities, but I would like to note that ASUE staff has always been of higher quality, more prepared"; Armen Hovhannisyan mentioned, expressing conviction that the cooperation will be fruitful.

The memorandum envisages enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge, to gain practical skills and experience, to assist young professionals to be employed, as well as to promote regular professional contacts and dialogue between students and professionals.

In particular, within the frames of cooperation, it is envisaged to provide ASUE Bachelor's degree 4th year and undergraduate, Master's degree students the opportunity to hold educational internship in "Grant Thornton", and the best ones to be employed in the company.

The parties agreed to jointly discuss other measures for the promotion of cooperation, for the improvement of educational programs and their application in the business.
