Reports at ASUE Scientific Board's Session

Today’s session of ASUE Scientific Board started with the presentation of  report on the situation of internationalization activity of the university by Gagik Vardanyan, Vice-rector of Science and International Relations. The Vice-rector represented the carried out activities towards the unification of ASUE with the world educational area and the cooperation development with educational centers and funds mentioning that the frames of student and staff academic mobility have been broadened. ASUE currently cooperates with 30 foreign universities. During the 2016-2017 academic year 20 students, 26 administrative and teaching staff members implemented their mobility at our partner universities, as well as ASUE hosted 2 students and 59 members of administrative and teaching staff from our partner universities. Gagik Vardanyan mentioned that ASUE Foreign relations division and Quality assurance division worked effectively towards the internationalization of ASUE and international cooperation development.

There is also a positive move in the sphere of export of research services and involvement of respective funds. Scientific council took the report into consideration and addressed recommendations to the responsible divisions to solve the present issues and strengthen the achievements in the field of international activity.

Sevak Khachatryan, Vice-rector on Students and Alumni Affairs reported on “The issues of study producing, scientific-pedagogical and scientific-research internship organization and the tasks of deaneries and chairs”, mentioning that both Lifelong education and career division and producing chairs made efforts towards the choice of right internship places and allocation of students. During the 2016-2017 academic years scientific-pedagogical and scientific-research internship was organized for 1784 students, from which 1313 in large organizations on the basis of agreements signed between the university and these organizations.

According to the Vice-rector internship is one of the most important components of the educational process and educational reforms aimed at learning outcomes require implementation of changes both in the university-organization cooperation and internship programs organization formats. Scientific council took the report of Sevak Khachatryan into consideration and the implemented activities have been assessed sufficiently.

Koryun Atoyan, Rector of ASUE, Professor, Chairman of Scientific Board, mentioned that the organization of internship is one of the most important processes of the university activity and it is necessary to realize active steps. According to the Rector the organization of internship must not be an artificial process, as it is very important in sense of professional preparedness.

Reports of three Deans of ASUE Departments were on the agenda as well. The Deans presented the results of the educational, scientific, research, internship organization and other activities of their Departments, particularly mentioning the reforms of educational programs, provision of human resources, internationalization of their activities, provision of resources, improvement of management and elaboration of procedures.

Tatul Mkrtchyan, Dean of Marketing and Business Organization Department presented report on the annual activity of his Department. According to the Dean the total number of students of the department is 959, study progress after the first academic semester in full-time bachelor’s degree is 75,2% and full-time Master`s degree is 70.1%, in part-time bachelor`s degree is 61.0% and part-time Master`s degree is 74.0%.

Vahe Miqayelyan, Dean of Finance Department reported that the total number of students of the department is 1841, study progress after the first academic semester in full-time bachelor’s degree is 86,7%,  full-time Master`s degree is 72,1, in part-time bachelor`s degree is 82,72% and part-time Master`s degree is 83,3 %.

Manuk Movsisyan, Dean of Computer Science and Statistics Department, mentioned, that study progress after the first academic semester in full-time bachelor’s degree is 65.4%, full-time Master`s degree is 96.7%, part-time bachelor`s degree is 71.4% .

Scientific Board took the reports of deans into consideration and addressed new recommendations for the improvement and assessed the activities of the departments as sufficient.

Paruyr Kalantaryan, Vice-rector on Educational-methodological Matters reported on “The approval of newly elaborated educational programs” and “Retake of received positive grade in all the types of education at ASUE”.  Scientific council approved 9 educational programs; “Management”, Economics”, “Accounting and auditing”, “Finance”, “Marketing”, “Environment protection and Environmental economics”, “Actuar and financial mathematics”, “Information systems and Statistics”. Scientific council decided not to allow the retake of positive grade in all the types of education.

Gagik Vardanyan, Vice-rector of Science and International Relations presented and the Scientific Board approved one topic of dissertation and one scientific supervisor.
