ASUE Representatives Attended a Workshop

National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation initiated  quality assurance stakeholders 4th  Conference on February 23-24, 2017 entitled “Quality in the Classroom: Improvement of assessment systems” in American University of Armenia within the frames  of the Education Quality Week (QWeek).

ASUE Quality Assurance Division informs that the  conference was attended by ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan, Head of Quality Assurance Division Nerses Gevorgyan, Senior  Specialist of the same Division Anna Pakhlyan,  Leading Specialists Maria Petrosyan and Ani Baghdasaryan, Head of Educational Division Aghavni Hakobyan, Director  of Educational-Methodological Affairs  Service Gayane Merdinyan, Director of ASUE Yeghegnadzor Branch Sos Khachikyan, Vice Director of ASUE Gyumri Branch Andrey Avetisyan.

Welcoming the attendees the Minister of the RA Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan highlighted the upcoming program accreditation: “There can be no institutional accreditation without program accreditation. It is very important and directly relates to the quality”.

Welcoming speeches were made by AUA President Dr. Armen Der Kiureghian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ofIndia in Armenia H.E. Mr. Yogeshwar Sangwan and Director of Swiss Agency of Accreditation and Quality Assurance Christoph Grolimund.

During the first day of the conference, participants discussed what assessment  the  student expects from the University, employee and lecturer. Workshops on “Revision of Academic Programs within the Framework of the Improvement of Assessment System”,  “Improvement of Teaching through the Revision of Assessment Systems”,  “Planning of Student Progress: the Role of Assessment” were held.

Lecturer at ASUE Chair of Higher Mathematics, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Maxim Muradyan made power point presentation. The first working day was summed up  with the presentation of quality assurance professionals and network of supporters.  

The Conference second  day launched with presentation of international experience in the sphere of quality assurance in Russia, UK,  Switzerland, which was followed by discussions on the process, aim, criteria and spheres of the upcoming cluster audit in Armenia.

Based on outcomes received from the audit the universities will be able to improve their vocational education programs. University representatives will go on discussions on the process and criteria for cluster audit during workshops.

Workshop on social sciences was conducted by Associate Professor of ASUE Chair of Macroeconomics Karen Grigoryan.
