Towards a healthy lifestyle: University sport events designated for 2018

The Head of ASUE Chair of Physical Training, Emergency situations and Civil Defense, the General Secretary of the RA Student Sport Federation Hovhannes Gabrielyan initiated a meeting, which was held at our University with the participation of Heads of Chairs of Physical Training of Armenian universities, the representatives of sports field and journalists.  They discussed student sport events to be held in Armenia in 2018, "ASUE Teachers Cup" inter-university championship, as well as the process of creating sport clubs in Armenian universities.

Head of Mass Sport and Physical Education Policy Department of the RA Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs Levon Vahradyan, Vice President of Student Sport Federation of RA, executive director Razmik Stepanyan, employee of Military and Extracurricular Education Department of RA Ministry of Education and Science Armen Voskanyan, Vice President of the Armenian Basketball Federation Vahagn Harutyunyan and others were present at the meeting.

The events were discussed in chronology. The representatives of Universities expressed their readiness to participate in the "ASUE Teachers Cup" inter-university annual championship. Hovhannes Gabrielyan mentioned that 15 universities, including the regions are expected to participate.

It was underlined that this year as a result of trilateral cooperation, unprecedented work will be done to ensure the active participation of students in the republican and international championships. The Chanpionships will be organized by the RA Ministry of Education and Science, the RA Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and the RA Student Sport Federation.

Emphasizing the importance of promotion of healthy lifestyle and popularization of sport, the attendees considered it necessary to create sport clubs at universities and mentioned that the work is underway in this direction. By the way, the club has been founded at ASUE and is already involved in organization of sport events.

As a result of the discussion the main events of coming months were outlined. This meeting was the first step in strengthening inter-university cooperation.
