ASUE Scientists Participate in Antelias Conference

The Pan-Armenian Forum dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Independence of the First Republic of Armenia, under the high patronage of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, was held in Antelias, Beirut on March 21-23, 2018. About 50 delegates were invited to take part in the conference. The Armenia-Artsakh delegation was officially headed by the head of the NAS RA department of armenology and social sciences, head of the chair of Management of Armenian State University of Economics, academician Yuri Suvaryan. The director of Institute of History NAS RA academician Ashot Melkonyan, the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies NAS RA Ruben Safrastyan, Doctor Vardan Devrikyan, Director of the National Archive of Armenia, Dr. Amatuni Virabyan, former RA Minister of Foreign Affairs, Doctor Arman Kirakosyan and other scientists were among the participants of the conference. Ararat Hakobyan, Professor at the chair of ASUE Philosophy and Armenian History was also the participiant of the conference, who shared his impressions with us.
On the first day of the conference, after an opening speech, His Holiness Aram I with the blessing made an official opening of the triumphal monument symbolizing the 100th anniversary of the First Republic. The triple temple in the sense of the idea embodies the Armenian First and Third Republics, as well as the Diaspora. Thematic reports included a wide range of issues. The speeches highlighted the inner spiritual and the inheritance link especially between the First and the Third Republics, the scientific highlights and summaries were made.
One of the plenary sessions was presided over by academician Yuri Suvaryan, the Professor Ararat Hakobyan delivered a report at the same session, examining the issues of state structure and state building of the First Republic. It is worth to mention that the conference was held in interesting and saturated sessions, followed by questions and answers and discussions. His Holiness Aram I, academics Yuri Suvaryan and Ashot Melkonyan delivered concluding speeches.
