The research entitled “Prospects of Armenia-China Economic Cooperation Within “One Belt, One Road” Project” was authored by Vardan Atoyan (Head of research team), Doctor of Sciences (Political Science), Deputy Director and Senior Expert, AMBERD Research Center, ASUE, Meri Hovsepyan, Tatevik Arustamyan and Narine Petrosyan (members of research team).
The research examined China's “One Belt One Road” initiative and the preconditions for regional cooperation. Reference was made to the “Silk Road” initiative, its significance for the countries of the South Caucasus and the region, the China-EAEU cooperation, the successful experience of capital investments, the opportunities for global investment projects, the identification of risks.
The study of cooperation between the countries of the region and China shows that if Armenia does not rethink the importance of the Armenian-Chinese relations and does not take practical steps in this direction, it can be excluded from the agenda of the global initiative. Based on the research, the authors of this research developed a roadmap for action priorities that can serve as a basis for policymakers and decision-makers. For Armenia, both economically and politically, the revitalization and development of relations with one of the leading superpowers should become the agenda. In this context, the key role is played by the issue of strengthening the Armenian-Chinese cooperation, creating an agenda of bilateral political and economic interests.
The research was ensured for publication by ASUE Scientific Board.
