ASUE Brave Graduates: Recognize our Heroes Fell for the Homeland
Both ASUE students and graduates stand out with their heroism in the Artsakh-Azerbaijani war. Many of them donated the most precious thing in the defense of the homeland - their lives. This reference is dedicated to ASUE graduates who fell like heroes in Artsakh. Vahe Verdyan was from Shushi, Artsakh. In 2016 he graduated from the Faculty of Computer Science and Statistics and was admitted to Master’s degree in the same year. In the second year of the Master's degree he took a deferment. Vahe was a lover of military activity, a purposeful and promising officer. He was a senior lieutenant trained in China. He died in Artsakh while saving the life of his soldier. Vahe Verdyan was also a participant of the April Four-Day War, as a volunteer-student we referred to him, as well as to all ASUE members participating in the four-day war in "Tntesaget" magazine.
Hakob Hakobyan, got Master’s degree at the Faculty of Mangement /Business management specialty/ and Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Marketing and Business Manegment. He left for the front line on September 30, he was an artilleryman. He worked at the Central Bank of Armenia as a financial analyst. Hakob was a hard working boy, he studied well, he was fluent in foreign languages, he studied in Estonia for one semester by "Erasmus +" program. He was receiving his second Master's degree at the American University of Armenia. Hakob's sister Gayane Hakobyan told asue.am that her brother's dream was to study at the University of Massachusetts, to have his own business company. Many, many cherished dreams that were left unfinished for the sake of the homeland.
"Hakob was an extremely responsible man, he did not like to give up any work, he was very patriotic and a good artilleryman. Friends say that his blows were always infallible…
"He loved volunteering, he had a lot of experience"; said Gayane. Hakob was seriously injured while defending Sanasar (Kubatli), doctors could not save his life…
Erik Gabrielyan graduated ASUE Yeghegnadzor Branch in 2020. We tried to speak with the hero's parents, the father said that Eric was a great patriot, he worked in the NSS border troops, he should have been awarded the title of lieutenant in the near future, but…
During the war he took part in hostilities in the Araks Valley and died bravely. The mother, Alina Shavarshyan, burst into tears and said that the homeland was everything for her son.
