On February 1, Competition Protection Commission initiated a discussion on the existing competition issues in the field of poultry circulation. Tigran Gabrielyan, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Tatul Mkrtchyan, ASUE Vice-Rector for Science, Hayk Karapetyan, Member of the Commission, poultry producers, members of CPC Public Board and other officials attended the discussion.

Gegham Gevorgyan, the Chairman of the Commission, presented the comprehensive study aimed at revealing the general competitive situation in the field of poultry circulation carried out jointly by CPC and ASUE AMBERD Research Center last year, the outcomes of which will be published in the nearest future.

Gegham Gevorgyan noted that the study showed that poultry production was growing in the world market, but consumption is growing at a more advanced pace and there is a presumption that it will continue in the coming years, which creates preconditions for the expansion of local production. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the key reasons that hinder the increase of local production of chicken meat, as they have increased, but the level of self-sufficiency of chicken meat is still low - about 30%.
