ASUE Athletes as Medalists of Republican Championship of Powerlifting

ASUE Student-athletes performed brilliantly at the Powerlifting Championship held on April 18 within 20^th Republican Sports Games of the students of RA HEIs. Our boys returned from this Championship with 1 gold and 2 silver medals. Arman Gulyan, a trainer of the Powerlifting, lecturer of the Chair of Physical Training, Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, noted that 4 athletes represented our University in the Championship. So, Edgar Badalyan, the 1^st year student of part-time Master’s degree of the Department of Finance won gold medal in 60kg weight category, Rudolf Vardanyan, the 1^st year student of the same Department won silver medal in 60kg weight category, Vanik Papakhchyan, the 2^nd year student of the Department of Computer Science and Statistics, won silver medal in 52kg weight category. Our another athlete: Vahe Nersisyan, the 1^st year student of the Department of Accounting and Audit, won the 6^th place in 82,5+kg weight category. The coach stated that the results are inspiring and promising. By the way, gold medalist Edgar Badalyan will represent Armenia in May in the World Championship of Powerlifting in Ukraine.

Note, that about 150 athletes from 10 higher educational institutions participated in the Powerlifting Championship.
