ASUE representetives participated in workshops and seminars in 4 European partner Universities

On November 14-29 seminars devoted  to study the experience of 4 partner universities in the European Union launched in Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden; Bath Spa University, UK; University of Girona, Spain; University of Heidelberg, Germany, within the framework of VERITAS  “Structural Development of the Third Cycle based on Salzburg Principles”  EU  Tempus  Program. 

ASUE Vice-Rector on Education-Methodological Matters Paryur Kalantaryan and, ASUE coordinator of Veritas program, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Karen Grigoryan  represented   Armenian State University of Economics in all 4 European universities.

In Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) the following issues were presented and discussed: Swedish Higher Education system, Swedish system of research education and Quality System, Research schools and research education programs, Supervision of PhD students at KTH, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, research and Innovation, PhD studies at KTH from the student perspective, Research supervision and courses for PhD students, Organization of KTH research education on central level, administrative issues.


In Bath Spa University (UK) the following issues were represented and discussed: Research and Enterprise, PhD assessment & examination, Career development for PhD students, Institute for Education Research Seminar, Road Map Development, PhD supervision at Bath Spa, Quality Assurance in UK Higher Education, Research activities and policy at BSU, UK research funding, European opportunities and good practice across the sector. Knowledge exchange and researcher development, Research strategy and environment at Bath Spa University, Research Excellence Framework, Talks from current PhD students at BSU, the role of the Graduate School in admissions, monitoring progress and examination arrangements for PhD students, Open Access, Research Repository and library support for PhD Students.


In the University of Girona (Spain) the following issues were represented and discussed: Presentation of the Social Council of the University of Girona, Knowledge Transfer: University, AQU Catalunya advisor (standards of quality), Presentation of the school of Doctorate of the University of Girona, Internal Session about the status quo of dissemination in VERITAS (each partner will present their internal and external dissemination actions from state of art.), Discussions on road map with the targeted institutions, Case 1: ViBOT. Erasmus Mundus Master on Vision and Robotics, Case 2: Erasmus Mundus Master in Tourism Management, University of Girona library resources.

In the University of Heidelberg (Germany), on the first day, the participants had site visits on structured PhD programs (“Graduate Schools”: HBIGS for the Life Science; HGS MathComp for Maths and Informatics and HGSFP for Physics) with presentations and respective Q&A sessions. The day continued with visits at the research cluster of the life sciences, “CellNetworks” and research cluster affiliated with Heidelberg “Asia and Europe”. On the second day, the participants visited some of the institutions with world-wide visibility in the Life Sciences: the Zentrum (Center) for Molecular Biology, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory.  

Road maps of RA universities, as well as  planned actions of implementation of project work packages were discussed with the European partners in all universities.

Various RA universities and organizations were participating in the "VERITAS" program. In particular, Yerevan State Medical University (project coordinator), RA National Academy of Sciences, Yerevan State University, Armenian State University of Economics, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences, Gavar State University, Vanadzor State Pedagogical University, Northern University, as well as "Quality of education" JSC, RA Ministry of Education and Science, Higher Attestation Commission, National Center for Quality Assurance.

The experience gained during the workshops is useful for the formation and development of reform frameworks of third level higher education, as well as for keeping contact between the partner universities.
