European Higher Education Area Ministerial Summit and 4th Political Forum of the Bologna Process are taking place: ASUE participates headed by the rector

500 participants – delegations of 47 countries and international organizations, 20 education ministers: the European Higher Education Area Ministerial Summit and 4th Political Forum of the Bologna Process launched on May 14, in Yerevan. The event is held in Karen Demirchyan’s Sports and Concert Complex. President Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the participants.  

"Continuing our own traditions of education, it is necessary to have easy and consistent tools for contact and communication across the European Higher Education Area. In this context Bologna Process reforms have highly supported the formation of student-centered system and all the investments that will enable today's younger generation to be prepared and competitive. Perhaps not all problems are solved, however, these achievements and the desire to achieve global goals assume more active dialogues and cooperation,” according to the official website of President, in his speech noted the President Serzh Sargsyan.

The opening ceremony was chaired by the RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan. In his opening remarks Minister said that three years ago in Bucharest the European Ministers of Education unanimously voted for Armenia to become a center of European educational area and Yerevan – 9th capital of European educational area.

Welcoming remarks were also made by Tibor Novrochich - European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Mārīte Seile Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia, and Iceland Marite SALE Education,Illugi Gunnarsson Minister of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland.

During the conference, group discussions were held yesterday. In particular, the Council of Europe Higher Education Department Shyur Bergen made a report on "The basic values of EHEA: future paradigm".

Ministerial meeting was attended by representatives of the ASUE headed by Rector, Professor Koryun Atoyan.

Today on May 15 Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan also participated in European Higher Education Area Ministerial Summit and 4th Political Forum of the Bologna Process. In his speech, the Prime Minister said: "The Bologna process is a result of a successful collaboration. It had a decisive role in the creation of a European area of higher education model. This is also a way for developing countries to share the positive experience of Bologna process. In this context, our cooperation must be based on mutual trust and dialogue, which can serve as a good platform for the development of political and economic opportunities”.

During the conversation with ASUE Media and Public Relations Division Rector Koryun Atoyan, referring to the European Higher Education Area Ministerial Summit and 4th Political Forum of the Bologna Process said that this event had an exceptional importance for all the participants. "This is, in fact, a significant event for the educational family that shows the current achievements and outline the processes and developments in the field of higher education," said ASUE Rector.
