ASUE STUDENT COUNCIL IS 20 YEARS OLD: SOLEMN SESSION AT THE UNIVERSITY (photos)
Student Council of Armenian State University of Economics is 20 years old. Today, the measures started on September within the framework of the jubilee were summarized at ASUE Big Hall by solemn session, which was attended by ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan, Vice-rectors, members of Faculty, former members of SC, guests and students.
President of ASUE SC Sergey Kharatyan welcomed the participants on the jubilee, presented the former Presidents of Student Council, then gave the floor to the former and honorable President of Student Council Abram Bakhchagulyan to conduct the reporting session.
“Preserving the old and creating the new are one of the main goals of our Student Council”; outlined Abram Bakhchagulyan in his welcoming speech.
First, spoke ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan, who evaluated the role and activity of student self-government bodies, particularly ASUE Student Council.
“ASUE Student Council celebrates its 20-year-old creating expressive chronicle of its 20-year-old activity. Founded two decades ago, student self-government bodies passed an unique and student self-expression way becoming an integral part of the University. Student councils gave a new color to everyday University life raising students’ problems”; noted the Rector, outlining that our University Student Council has passed the first two decades of foundation and steps towards sustainable development.
“Cooperating with the University Rectorate Board, other subdivisions, as well as a number of structures, Student Council is able to organize students’ vocation, entertainment, development, sport various measures, which involve hundreds of students. In recent years, we have many occasions to rejoice the success of our students, which they register in all spheres: from academic to sport. Participation of Student Council in republican youth, student various projects has become more frequent, where our University students stand united and are distinguished for their success”; mentioned Koryun Atoyan, wishing the students success in their studies, memorable days of student life, new achievements.
After the speech the Rector awarded the former Presidents of Student Council /Markos Shirinyan, Samvel Eghikyan, Arthur Gyulazyan, Abram Bakhchagulyan, Armen Alexanyan, Sevak Khachatryan/ certificates and souvenirs for making significant contributions in foundation and development of the University student self-government body.
Founding President of Student Council Markos Shahinyan spoke and presented a summary of the history of founding Student Council, noting that it implemented one of the originally set goals: students’ self-organizational function.
The former Presidents and members of Student Council Samvel Eghikyan, Armen Alexanyan, Sevak Khachatryan, Armen Smbatyan, Arman Gevorgyan shared interesting memories and congratulated Student Council on the 20th anniversary.
Vice-rector of Educational Matters Mihrdat Harutyunyan evaluated the role of the Student Council founded in the 90s. The Vice-rector mentioned that the SC is an unique forge to prepare personal. “Being a member of the SC is more of an obligation than a right,” said Mihrdat Harutyunyan.
Head of the Chair of Environmental Economics, Doctor of Economics, Professor Suren Gevorgyan also congratulated the SC wishing to stay forever young.
Special guest: President of Student Council of Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences Anahit Tunyan, President of SC of Yerevan State Medical University Karen Hakobyan, also congratulated the jubilee of our University SC.
Vice President of Armenian National Students Association Sargis Asatryants mentioned that ASUE is one of the most stable and reliable partners of ANSA: he also awarded a symbolic gift to members of ASUE.
Note, that the final event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of SC will be held tonight at 17:30 in “Moscow” cinema.
