BLESSING CEREMONY AT ASUE (photos)
Today, a blessing ceremony of Armenian State University of Economics was held at the University foyer by His Grace Bishop Mushegh Babayan. The ceremony was attended by ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan, Vice-rector of Educational Matters, Mihrdat Harutyunyan, Vice-rector on Administrative Affairs, Mikhail Karapetyan, Vice-rector on Students and Alumni Affairs, Sevak Khachatryan, representatives of Faculty, collaborators of the University administrative and academic subdivisions, students.
The ceremony was started by the Lord’s prayer, then His Grace Bishop Mushegh Babayan blessed symbolic bread, water and salt.
At the end of the ceremony the Srbazan mentioned that this was a blessing ceremony of the University inhabitants, that’s the collaborators and students of the University. Mushegh Srbazan noted with satisfaction that ASUE members sounded the Lord’s Prayer with very confident voices, which means they knew who they were directing their prayer.
After the blessing ceremony the participants tasted the blessed bread, water and salt, and the meeting with the clergyman and ASUE students went on in Conference Hall, headed by ASUE Rector Koryun Atoyan.
The Rector mentioned that the University Administration, in the result of discussions with the students, had initiated this ceremony. “The University is not a place to gain only knowledge, but also forms a future citizen, who should also have strong spiritual values”; mentioned the Head of the University.
Bishop Mushegh Babayan explained the meaning of the blessing ceremony, highlighting a person’s faith in God.
Then Bishop Mushegh Babayan answered the students’ questions, regarding programs and activities of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Church’s approach to sectarian movements.
At the end of the meeting Koryun Atoyan, on behalf of the University staff and students, thanked for the blessing ceremony and meeting, and mentioned that we would like such meetings to be continued.
Bishop Mushegh Babayan also thanked the Rector for the invitation and stressed the importance of the future cooperation.
