ASUE COLLABORATOR PARTICIPATED IN A THREE-DAY-WORKSHOP ON UNIVERSITY MUSEUMS
October 28-30, ICOM (International Council of Museums) National Committee of Armenia initiated a workshop on Public Relations in University and Academic Museums, which was held in Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences, which was attended by 12 representatives of University and Academic Museums of Armenia.
The collaborator of ASUE Media and Public Relations Division Nane Avanesyan presented our University in this workshop.
The three-day-workshop was conducted by specially invited experts: Hugues Dreysse, Vice-President of the University of Strasbourg, and Saloniemi Marjo-Riitta, Director of Tampere Museums.
During the workshop the concept of University museum, its activities, events, development programs, marketing tools, branding, target groups were spoken about. Through practical work each participant introduced its museum, undertaken steps towards development. They visited YSLU museum of Valeri Brusov, Geological Museum of Institute of Geological Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, the participants got acquainted with the formation history of them.
The representatives of University and Academic Museums got participation certificates.
“This workshop aims to present the international experience to collaborators of our University and Academic Museums, it is initiated by Marine Mkrtchyan, Vice-President of ICOM. Considering that the World rapid changes and progress throw new challenges and we can not stand apart from it, we need to get acquainted with the international experience, and to make use of them”; highlighted Marine Haroyan and added that it’s planned to open a Center for Museum Education in Armenia in December, which aimed to involve all local museums, and carry out academic programs.
Nane Avanesyan has returned from the workshop impressed and she mentions that it’s both useful and pleasant.
“It is important to gain not only theoretical and practical knowledge, but also to form an interuniversity relationship, to exchange experience, to discuss and to raise problems and to find out solutions to them. We have managed to acquire new partners for future cooperation during these three-day-workshop”; said Nane, expressing willingness to contribute to development of ASUE Museum.
Note, that the museum, situated in the foyer of central building of Armenian State University of Economics, validates the University history, which has been opened in 2004 and is newly presented in September, 2014.
