WORLD STANDARDS DAY WAS CELEBRATED AT ASUE
Every year, on October 14, the World Standards Day is celebrated.
Today, a seminar-training was held today at ASUE Conference Hall, which was initiated by the Chair of Commodity Research and Technology. The Vice-rector of methodological Matters, Paruir Kalantaryan, Vice Director of National Institute of Standards, Candidate in Economics, Gevorg Nazaryan, Faculty of the mentioned Chair, collaborators, students attended the seminar.
Acting Head of the Chair of Commodity Research and Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Silva Sahradyan, welcome the participants, stressed that theWorld Standards Day was celebrated at ASUE for the 1st time.
The Head of the Chair referred to international standard concept, explained the gist of it, describing it as a key element of quality management. She also highlighted the activity of International Institute of Standards mentioning that it had developed 7200 standards, which were used in Institute member countries.
The professor presented the background of celebrating the World Standards Day, then different years’ slogans on that Day. This year’s slogan is “Standards create equal conditions”.
Vice Director of National Institute of Standards, Candidate in Economics, Gevorg Nazaryan, presented the mission of International Institute of Standards, mentioned that 165 countries were in its stuff, Armenia is one of them. Moreover, Armenia is a member of the Institute Board. The speaker presented the activities of National Institute of Standards (4500 standards have been developed, which are used in economy of our country). The Vice Director mentioned that more information regarding activities of National Institute of Standards are presented in the official web site www.sarm.am.
Former Head of standardization department, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor at the Chair of Commodity Research and Technology, Ghukas Mehrabyan, had a speech on the topic.
At the end of the seminar the speakers answered the participants’ questions.
