BULGARIAN EXPERT WAS HOSTED AT ASUE “AMBERD” RESEARCH CENTER (photos)
By invitation of Vardan Atoyan, Director of “National Security Research” Program at ASUE “AMBERD” Research Center, Candidate of Economics, Tsvetelina Kharalampieva, Doctoral Candidate Researcher at Sofia State University, Historian, Caucasus expert, was hosted at ASUE “AMBERD” Research Center today and delivered a lecture entitled “Some Aspects of Nicholas the 1st Security Strategy and British Intervention in the Caucasus (the Crimean War)”.
Active discussion was held after the lecture, a number of questions were raised. The participants were interested in the expert’s opinion and approach regarding especially the current developments in the South Caucasus and the geopolitical situation after the crisis in Ukraine. They also discussed issues regarding the benefits and interests of different power centers in the region.
In particular, Vardan Atoyan raised questions regarding Bulgarian society's attitude toward the crisis in Ukraine, Pan-Slavism ideology and socio-economic and political situations created in Bulgaria after the EU accession. Edgar Tagharyan, Master Degree student of the research team, was interested in benefits and interests of Russia and the USA in Caucasus.
Samvel Avetisyan, Director of “AMBERD” Research Center, Doctor in Economics, concluded the meeting and highly evaluated the expert’s report, noting, that the historian’s lecture reflected the most crucial period for the Armenian nation. The Director of the Center also inquired about the possibilities and prospects of cooperation with Sofia State University, in response to which Tsvetelina Kharalampieva pointed out several directions.
Samvel Avetisyan handed a letter of appreciation to the Bulgarian expert, and Vardan Atoyan handed her information catalogues about ASUE and “AMBERD” Research Center, books devoted to the history of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Tsvetelina Kharalampieva also gifted publications in English and Bulgarian.
In the interview with ASUE Media and Public Relations Division Vardan Atoyan said; “Such meetings are very important for internationalization of “AMBERD” Research Center. To exchange ideas and experiences of foreign experts greatly contributes to our programs. In this context, I would like to mention, that one of the research conducted within the framework “National Security Research” program by Master Degree students is about South Caucasus security issues and I am sure that this lecture was very useful for the Master Degree students”.
