Developing Student Sport: ASUE Hosts Events Dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Armenian Student Sports Federation
Throughout its activities, Armenian Student Sports Federation has united students of Armenian Universities around sporting events, encouraged and inspired student-athletes to promote healthy lifestyles. The 25th anniversary of the Federation is celebrated this year, which is marked by various events.
Student Sport Federation is the best friend of ASUE and that’s why today's conference and extraordinary general meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Federation were hosted at our University.
Before the event would launch at ASUE Big Hall, the acting Rector of ASUE Diana Galoyan hosted Adam Roczek, President of the European University Sports Association and Matjaž Pečovnik, Secretary General. They were accompanied by Hovhannes Gabrielyan, acting Head of the Chair of Physical Training, Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, Grisha Amirkhanyan, member of Student Committee of the Federation.
Hovhannes Gabrielyan introduced the guests, then touched upon ASUE sports achievements highlighting the success of futsal and chess gained in recent years. Hovhaness Gabrielyan expressed gratitude for hosting the events dedicated to the anniversary of the Federation.
Diana Galoyan welcomed the Management Board of the European University Sports Association at ASUE, then stated that the role of sport and physical culture at our University life is great. “Members of ASUE staff and students are involved in sports events, participate in various competitions, maintaining high reputation of our University. Armenian Student Sports Federation has a great role in the sports success of our University, so we’re pleased to host you here within the 25th anniversary of the Federation”; the acting Rector stated highlighting Hovhannes Gabrielyan’s activity in developing sport at ASUE.
Adam Roczek thanked Diana Galoyan for being hosted, supporting the organization of the event, introduced the activity of the association, the planned events, emphasizing that it’s not only a sports organization, but also a great platform for bringing together student-athletes all over the World.
Matjaž Pečovnik, Secretary General, also thanked ASUE Head and noted that he visited Yerevan 6 years ago and were greatly impressed by our hospitable people, our country with rich cultural heritage.
Then the conference and extraordinary general meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Student Sports Federation launched at ASUE Big Hall attended by honorable guests, students, sport lovers.
Hovhannes Gabrielyan welcomed the guests and gave the floor to ASUE acting Rector Diana Galoyan. The University Head congratulated the anniversary of the Federation and noted that physical culture and sport are of great importance at ASUE and the vivid evidence of this was the remarkable success of our student-athletes in University, international and republican championships. “It should be noted that our efforts, student involvement in various events are fully implemented under the auspices of the Student Sports Federation. I am confident that Student Sports Federation will continue its mission for the sake of our students, our State's sports successes”; Diana Galoyan stated and wished good luck to the meeting attendees.
Then reports were presented touching upon developing issues of University sport.
The jubilee event continued with awarding ceremony. Heads of Universities, lecturers, coaches and representatives of various sports federations were awarded symbolic prizes for a great contribution to the development of student sports in Armenia.
The extraordinary general meeting was summed up with the discussion of NGO President Razmik Stepanyan's resignation and the election of a new President.
Hovhannes Gabrielyan, the new President of Armenian Student Sports Federation, was elected by a unanimous vote.
