ASUE representatives at the 4th Forum for the stakeholders of Education Quality Assurance

On April 16 and 17, National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance (ANQA) organized the 4th forum for the stakeholders of education quality assurance at the Matenadaran, Scientific Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts named after Mesrop Mashtots.
Acting Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan and Director of ANQA Ruben Topchyan delivered welcoming speeches.
Levon Mkrtchyan noted that the development of professional education and quality systems are at the stage of value system changes all over the world and Armenia should be viewed as one common scientific-educational space where by creating value, one helps the other institution to collaborate with them in the network university format. The Acting Minister also touched upon the draft law "On Higher Education" underlining that quality assurance mechanisms are envisaged.
The event was attended by the Vice-Rector on Educational-Methodological matters Paruyr Kalantaryan, Head of Quality Assurance Division Nerses Gevorgyan and Anna Pakhlyan, Maria Petrosyan, Ani Baghdasaryan, Director of Amberd Research Center Armen Grigoryan, Head of Educational Department Aghavni Hakobyan as well as ASUE Quality Assurance Expertise group members: Assistant Professor of chair of Management Tigran Mnatsakanyan, Head of Teaching and Methodological Service Gayane Merdinyan, acting head of the Chair of Macroeconomics Karen Grigoryan.
"Education and Specialist. Professional Education Today and Tomorrow" two-day forum was aimed to discuss the recognition of qualifications awarded by vocational education institutions by the labor market, to promote dialogue between educational institutions, employers and government bodies.
ASUE Vice-Rector on Educational-Methodological matters Paruyr Kalantaryan, participated in panel discussion on "Educated person or specialist?".
The transparency of higher education institutions, the insertion of new approaches to the education management, the launch of the second phase of institutional accreditation and expected changes, the software accreditation process and other issues were discussed at the two days of forum.
At the end of the second day, the model of university-employer cooperation, developed and tested within the EU Tempus ARARAT and ALIGN programs and the results of its launch were presented. Implementation of the model will contribute to the identification of the needs of the labor market and the release of relevant specialists. The forum was attended by representatives of Armenian secondary and higher education institutions, employers, as well as international education experts from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
