Master Thesis at the Core of Regional Development Programs

On February 19, within the framework of the strategic development program of Ararat marz a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Marzpetaran and several leading universities of Armenia on establishment of industrial, agricultural, environmental, management, tourism, community development programs and existing problems as a topic of students’ Master’s thesis.
Grisha Tamrazya, Deputy Minister of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, welcomed the initiative and thanked the Universities’ Heads for quick response. “The Ministry of Education and Science is always ready to support such programs. We hope that the initiative will succeed, and the researches will truly contribute to socio-economic development of Ararat marz”; the Deputy Minister stated.
Garik Sargsyan, Governor of Ararat marz, noted that considering the region's current problems and prospects, the memorandum proposes to introduce local and subject-oriented studies that can further develop working or business (investment) programs in the field, contributing to the multifaceted development of the region, as well as sustainable guarantees providing job for students studying the field.
"The university-marzpetaran-private sector mutually beneficial cooperation will be formed as an outcome, and the Master’s thesis will be more effective and won’t become only library sample": Garik Sargsyan stated emphasizing that students can defend their thesis at the Marzpetaran.
Representatives of the universities also welcomed the initiative, noting that most of the researches in the universities really remains in libraries or is used for certain studies. They stated that this format is the best example for transition from the university to the labor market, strengthening the university-employer relationship, when the employer requires and highlights the work with scientific idea and the researches are practically used in real life.
Note, according to the memorandum, the Marzpetaran is willingness to present to the university any local problem and/or private process in the region, and the university in its turn, through the expertise (researches, surveys) to form topics of master's theses, thesis and other research works on the scientific basis of the problems.
Under the memorandum, the parties will also collaborate on the joint implementation of investment, innovation and grant programs using appropriate equipment, laboratory and other means.
Note, the memorandum was signed between the Marzpetaran and Yerevan State University, National Polytechnic University of Armenia, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Armenian State University of Economics, Armenian National Agrarian University, Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia.
