ASUE armwrestlers’ success at the 19th RA Students’ Sport Games

On March 17, the 19th RA Students’ Sport Games started with the table tennis competitions, later traditional swimming, shooting, basketball, volleyball, handball, chess, table tennis, futsal, judo, cross, triathlon championships were held. This year national games have also been included and after 12 years' break the arm-wrestling championship was held. The organizer was the RA Student Sport Federation and the general secretary was Hovhannes Gabrielyan, the acting head of the Chair of Physical Training, Emergency Situations and Civil Defense. On March 24-25, armwrestling championship was held in ASUE gym with more than 40 athletes from 7 Armenian universities in 5 weight categories: 60, 70, 80, 90, 90+ kg.
6 athlets were included in ASUE team, 4 of which were awarded with medals and diplomas. Arman Gulyan, a trainer of the team, a lecturer from the Chair of Physical Training, Emergency Situations and Civil Defense told us that the bouts were held with direct and impartial control of the RA Armwrestling Federation, organizing referees and lottery.
So Gor Tatoyan, 1st year student of the Finance Department, has taken the 1st place with his left hand and the 2nd place with his right hand in the 60 kg category. Vahan Ter-Balyan, 3rd year student of the Finance Department, has taken the 1st place with right and left hands, Emanuel Hakobyan, the 3rd year student of the Management Department has the 2nd place with the right hand left hands in the 80 kg category. Mels Torosyan, the 1st year student of the Finance Department (part-time programe) took the 3rd place with a left hand in the 90 kg weight category.
Arman Gulyan congradulated and thanked our athlets wishing them new sport achievements and success.
We’d like to note that Vahan Ter-Balyan will leave for Bulgaria on May 25 to take part in the European Armwrestling Championship. We look forward to his new victories.
