Diaspora as a factor of economic development: “Amberd” 3rd seminar

Today the 2nd seminar of “Diaspora as a factor of economic development of RA" research project took place at “Amberd” conference hall. The seminar was attended by representatives of ASUE scientific staff, researchers and students. The supervisor of the research group is the director of "Amberd” Research Center Samvel Avetisyan.

A members of the group senior specialist of the research center Suren Babajanyan came up with a report representing diaspora`s investment plans in jewelry and watch-making industries. The speaker noted that the survey intended to reveal the impact of diaspora`s investments on economic development of RA in last decade.

Summarizing Suren Babajanyan said. "The main factor of economic growth of Armenia aren`t brandy, or diamonds and not even foreign investments, it is us, the Armenians. This is consciousness that shrinkages in all of us from rich to poor".

  After the report the speaker answered to the questions. Many participants noted that both the seminar and the presentation were interesting.

The group noted that the study is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
